Homemade Pho!

    One of my favorite Asian dishes is Pho! Who doesn't love Pho? It's become so popular throughout North America and it's no secret why. In my opinion its all about the broth, which real Pho experts have perfected.
    I wanted to make a quick pho for myself at home. Pho can be a quick and easy meal to make, it just depends on how much effort you want to put into your broth. So I took a trip to Chinatown in North Austin and gathered some traditional ingredients as well as some of my own preferences.

 My Ingredients Included:
  • Mushrooms
  • Dried Onions
  • Fish balls
  • Carrots
  • Curly Kale
  • Bean Sprouts
  • Thinly Sliced Beef
  • Cilantro 
  • Thai Basil
  • Green Onions
  • Beef Broth ( Pho cube was preferred but I couldn't find my favorite brand)
  • Allspice
  • Coriander
  • Salt 
  • Peppa

    Pho is best served super hot, so I heated up the broth to a boil then threw in the mushrooms, dried onions, fish balls, and kale. Let it boil for a few minutes then I threw in everything else except the cilantro, basil and bean sprout, I put those in just before eating. The thin beef cooks quickly in the piping hot liquid!

    Despite not having any pho cubes or making the traditional broth it turned out really well in my opinion especially when I added those spices, and the condiments at the end. My bowl of Pho turned out pretty good!
